SUMMARY:Mixtapes\, Music & Memories: The Magic of the Cassette
DESCRIPTION:Join us to talk story about the impact of cassette tapes! Feel free to dig out your own tapes to jam out with us. \nTinifuloa “Tini” Grey comes from a proud musical legacy deeply rooted in Polynesian culture. As the grandson of a pioneering Samoan musician\, the son of legendary Samoan folk artist Jerome Grey\, and the brother of Taumata Grey from the renowned band Common Kings. \nGrowing up in Samoa and Hawaii and later immersing himself in the Los Angeles music industry\, Tinifuloa has spent over 30 years as a professional musician\, songwriter\, and producer. Also the founder of FAIVA\, a Polynesian acoustic trio\, Tinifuloa works to revive indigenous music and inspire youth to connect with their heritage. \nSeating is Limited. RSVP to team@pieam.org by Thursday\, 2/6. \nThis program is generously supported by the Center for Cultural Power\, Constellations Folk Arts and Cultural Stewardship Grant\, in partnership with California Arts Council.
