DESCRIPTION:The City of Long Beach will serve as the official host for the 2025 Long Beach Pride Parade for the second consecutive year\, ensuring the longstanding and cherished event continues for 2025. The City\, along with the Port of Long Beach and Council District Two\, are co-sponsors of this year’s parade. \nThe parade has been a staple of Long Beach and the LA region for decades\, attracting thousands of spectators and participants each year. The 42nd annual parade will take place on Sunday\, May 18\, commence at Ocean Boulevard and Lindero Avenue and travel along iconic stretches of Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue in Downtown. Led by the grand marshals\, Long Beach Pride Parade will feature a variety of participating organizations\, business and stakeholder groups showcasing vibrant and engaging floats and displays. \nBusinesses and community organizations interested in participating in the parade can submit an entry application now through Friday\, May 9\, 2025. There is no entry fee to participate in the parade. \nThe City proudly presents the following 2025 grand marshals: \n\nMorris Knight Political Grand Marshal – Second District Councilwoman Cindy Allen\nWhitey Littlefield Community Bridge Building Grand Marshal – Carolyn Caldwell\nRobert Crow Grand Marshal and Celebrity Grand Marshal – Jennifer Kumiyama\nMarilyn Barlow Grand Marshal – founding members of It’s a Drag to Give Debra Kahookele\, Josie Quiros\, Rocio Rached and Isa Rached\, who sadly passed away on Jan. 2\, 2025\nJudith Doyle Grand Marshal – Pastor Tony Carreras from Christ Chapel Long Beach\nDr. Robert Garcia Youth Grand Marshal – Alex Malleis-Sternberg\n\nThe parade will coincide with the Long Beach Pride Festival organized by the Long Beach Pride organization.  For festival information\, visit longbeachpride.com/festival.

DESCRIPTION:Beach Streets Open Streets is set to take place in West Long Beach on Saturday\, May 10\, 2025\, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hosted by the City of Long Beach and presented by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro)\, Beach Streets embraces the active commuting lifestyle by opening the streets and transforming them into safe\, open areas for people to bike\, walk and explore their neighborhoods. This year’s event will uplift the City’s Westside Promise Initiative\, a 10-year community investment plan that aligns existing City efforts and leverages partnerships to address current and historic challenges facing West Long Beach. \nBeach Streets promotes sustainable transportation\, supports local businesses and allows its thousands of annual participants to get to know their neighbors in a comfortable\, family-oriented environment. By bringing together different roadway users\, Beach Streets also promotes commuting safety and supports the City’s climate goals by encouraging zero-emission transportation options. \nThis year’s event route will feature Willow Street and Santa Fe Avenue. Entertainment hubs along the route will feature live music\, a kid zone\, food trucks and more. \nWestside Promise is a multi-department effort led by the Long Beach Community Development Department and in collaboration with other City Departments\, including Public Works\, Economic Development\, Health and Human Services\, Library Services and Parks\, Recreation and Marine\, and with oversight from the City Manager’s Office. The initiative focuses on areas related to housing supply\, climate resiliency\, youth and young adults\, workforce and training\, tourism\, and capital improvements to City facilities like parks and health centers. In addition to neighborhood improvement\, the initiative is also targeting economic development such as small business assistance and workforce training. The goal is to bolster and leverage investment in West Long Beach through entrepreneurship\, grant funding and external partnerships.
