DESCRIPTION:Come help plant trees in West Long Beach! \n\nDid you know that 36 new street trees are coming to West Long Beach? Volunteers are welcome to help plant the trees at this small\, socially-distanced\, outdoor tree planting event.\n\n\n \n\n\n I Dig Long Beach Tree Planting in West Long Beach\n\nThursday\, September 16\, 2021\n9 a.m. – noon\nMeeting Location:\nMeet at Willow Street & Caspian Avenue\nLong Beach\, CA\n\n \n\n\nA total of 36 trees will be planted in newly installed sidewalk cuts along Willow Street.  This weekday tree planting can include about 50 volunteers so that everyone has an opportunity to help plant the trees.    \n\n\n \n\n\nWould your group like to be a volunteer partner for this event? \n\n\n \n\n\nVolunteers of all ages are welcome at this event to help plant and water these young trees.  Attached are volunteer waivers you can bring with you on planting day. \n\n\n \n\n\nNo experience is needed\, training is provided.\n\n\n \n\n\nCan you and/or your organization serve as Water Brigade volunteers to help water the newly planted trees on planting day?\n\n\n \n\n\nVolunteers are needed to help make sure each tree is deep watered with 15 gallons on planting day to help them get off to a good start. \n\n\n \n\n\nCan you and/or your organization assist with watering the trees during their first year?\n\n\n   \n\n\nThe Port of Long Beach and CAL FIRE have provided funding to plant 10\,000 trees in Long Beach neighborhoods through 2022.  Residents\, businesses and community groups partner with Housing and Neighborhood Services Bureau to provide volunteers at the tree planting events.    \n\n\n \n\n\nHousing and Neighborhood Services Bureau staff will deliver all the trees and tools on planting day.
