Make Some Classic Irish Fare:
The most popular dish to make on St. Patrick’s Day is some corned beef and potatoes, but what about trying out something new this year like soda bread, Irish pancakes, or chocolate potato cake. These are classic Irish fares that are just as enjoyable and can be a nice surprise to try. Metro Parent has created a list of St. Patrick’s Day kid-friendly recipes for you and your little baker to try together. Who knows? You might just find a new favorite.
An Irish History Lesson:
The National Geographic for Kids provides some excellent articles on the history of St. Patrick’s Day. Understanding how this tradition came about is crucial for understanding some of the traditions.
For our visual and auditory learners out there, here is a fantastic video created by PBS Kids which gives a nice history lesson on St. Patrick’s Day.
Enjoy Some Crafts:
How about a four leaf clover sun catcher? Or maybe some shamrock slime? Women’s Day has created a HUGE list of fun activities to enjoy at all ages! (even adults like slime)
Get Dancing:
Irish Dancing involves a combination of soft and hard shoes similar in style to tapping. Riverdance remains the most celebrated Irish Dancing performance to date and is enjoyable to watch from start to finish. The music is intense, the dancing is fast, and you’ll feel excited the whole time!
