Cherese Mari Laulhere Children’s Village: One-Stop-Shop Health Care for Kids Close to Home
One-Stop-Shop Health Care for Kids Close to Home
When your child needs specialized medical care, you shouldn’t have to travel far to get it. MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach gives you access to elite care close to home. And that care recently expanded with the addition of the Cherese Mari Laulhere Children’s Village.
This brand-new four story, 80,000 sq. ft. building located on the Miller Children’s & Women’s campus houses a variety of medical and supportive care services.
Many illnesses affect kids differently, which is why a children’s hospital is so important. Children need health care designed for their unique needs that is delivered by specially trained clinicians in environments created just for kids.
A child with chronic or complex illnesses often needs care from multiple specialty physicians, as well as access to additional medical services, such as a pharmacy or imaging and laboratory. As a result, families are often challenged by multiple locations and appointments as they navigate their child’s health care journey.
Miller Children’s & Women’s has changed the way families access health care for their child by bringing all of those services under one roof in the Children’s Village.
In one kid-friendly location, you can get access to pediatric doctors in more than 30 specialties, including cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, orthopedics and pulmonology, as well as imaging and laboratory services, a pharmacy, education center, family resource center, and more.
The Children’s Village exclusively offers outpatient care. This is similar to seeing your child’s pediatrician in their office, only instead of a pediatrician you will see a pediatric specialist. However, should the need arise, the full-service children’s hospital is located just across the walkway. The same pediatric specialty physicians who provide care in the Children’s Village see patients in the hospital.
Whether your child needs a checkup at the Children’s Village or is in the hospital, there are several safety measures in place. It’s vitally important that you continue to seek care when your child needs it. Preventative and maintenance care, especially for kids with chronic illnesses, helps stop complications in the future. The physicians and staff at Miller Children’s & Women’s not only specialize in treating kids, but are experts in keeping your family safe during this challenging time. Don’t delay care. Your child’s health shouldn’t wait.
