It’s Complicated, but it doesn’t have to be.

This past year came with a pretty steep healthcare learning curve for a large number of people. Of course, our senior community was hit the hardest. For those of us helping our parents navigate this system for the first time, we’re learning just how difficult it is.

While this year has been an exceptional one, Medicare has always been a complicated topic. Many seniors and their family members have come to me from other situations without a clue as to what their benefits are. One reason for making poor plan choices is that people think they must pay for the services of an insurance broker (they DON’T). As such, they try to do it all themselves and inevitably fail, causing long-term lingering problems and frustration. All our time is given to potential and existing clients at NO COST.

We get paid by the insurance companies.

Hours of confusion and heartache could be saved by knowing that one simple truth!

Finding My Passion

I’m an independent insurance broker who has been on the Life and Health side of the insurance business since 2005. I first started my business, focusing on offering health insurance to individuals and small groups. I still have small group clients and certainly won’t turn them away, but I quickly found that my passion lies with working with seniors. I liked it so much that in 2015 I refocused the entire direction of my business to specialize in Medicare. Since 2019 seniors now make up more than 90% of my business. I have never looked back!

Finding an independent insurance broker who focuses on Medicare can be difficult. There aren’t too many of us! Specialization is one of my differentiators. Medicare changes often, has innumerable regulations, and requires hours of testing every year to stay current. It’s a challenge that I love. I make Medicare simple.

Begin the Conversation

I encourage you to begin these conversations with your older family members and friends as early as possible. It’s not always comfortable, but aging is a privilege and one that should be discussed openly. I’m devoted to educating and coaching my clients so that, together, we can find just the right plan with the benefits that are most suitable for them at that time. Needs tend to change over time, so ongoing care is what helps me develop long-term relationships with my clients. Giving yourself time to find the right fit and developing trust with an insurance broker is important.

One of my favorite things to do is to speak about topics regarding the ins and outs of Medicare. “Christina Martel Makes Medicare Simple,” is one of my signature talks, as is “Taking You from Medicare Hell to Medicare Heaven.” I also have many blog topics available on my website, which can be a great place to start.
