Akasha Physiotherapy
We are Sarah Shimanek and Sherine Aubert, two Long Beach moms and owners of Akasha Physiotherapy that have a passion for supporting pelvises and moms during their transition into motherhood to help prepare and recover from birth and throughout the lifespan. We provide pelvic, abdominal, and breast physical therapy with a holistic approach, encompassing physical, spiritual, and emotional healing for pelvic pain, bladder and bowel disorders, pregnancy and postpartum, and more. Our goal is help YOU achieve comfortable activities in the bedroom, bathroom, birthing, sitting, exercising and beyond.
We integrate three elements to find joyful healing for confidence in the bathroom, the bedroom, and your everyday life:
1. Collaborative Care:
- Collaborating to listen to your unique story
- Collaborating to honor your experience
- Collaborating to consider all aspects of your health
2. Connection:
- Connecting to your own body with individualized guidance
- Connecting to the bigger picture to address the root cause
- Connecting your body to the world around you, allowing the body to feel like home
3. Courageous experiences
- Courage with support to find freedom in movement
- Courage to confidently connect with loved ones
- Courage to celebrate your joyful healing journey
We feel honored to live and work in Long Beach to serve local moms. We love to keep it local, from populations we work with, art on our walls, and foods we cook at home. There is no such thing as “too much information” in our sessions, and we spend most of our work days talking about peeing, pooping, penetration and any other pelvic topic. We both have our Doctorates in Physical Therapy and have dedicated our entire careers to the pelvis. In Sarah’s free time she likes to sing, enjoy yoga and nature, and hang out with her two kids. And usually you can find Sherine enjoying family time in the outdoors, dancing around the house and planning new adventures.
We look forward to supporting you and your pelvis.
