Long Beach Moms Play Mahjong at The Small Market : We will teach you or come and do a social play with us!

Four Sundays this fall. Five tables. Twenty seats. Bring your hands — we’ll teach you the rest.

Making friends as an adult is hard, and here’s why: it almost never happens over coffee (because some of us have day jobs), where you sit across from someone and take turns being interesting. It happens sideways — when your hands are busy and there’s something on the table between you.

That’s a mahjong table. It’s held women together for a hundred years for exactly this reason.

Long Beach Moms and Mahj Club are taking over The Small Market in Naples for four Sunday afternoons. Five tables of four. Twenty women. Two hours where nobody needs anything from you.

You don’t have to be a mother to sit at this table.

You don’t have to know how to play.

You don’t have to bring anyone with you.

Intro to Mahj — $60 · Two tables, eight seats. American mahjong from absolute zero, taught by Mahj Club. The tiles, the card, the Charleston, and what a Joker actually does. You’ll play real hands by the end. Come alone — most do. This seat is for one selected Sunday date.

Social Play — $15 · Three tables, twelve seats. For anyone who knows their way around the tiles. Instructor on hand for rule questions. This seat is for one selected Sunday date.

Fine Print – you will have a good time and you can purchase food and maybe wine to nosh on. Bring your busy brain and unplug from the family and work noise. Engagement of laughter and usage of strategic brain power is a side effect you will want more of.
