Long Beach Rising
By: Grayston Leonard, Founder of Long Beach Rising
Here at Long Beach Rising, we strive to bridge the gap between fitness and the outdoors with a strong emphasis on community. We opened up this gym with the hopes to make everyone from all walks of life feel welcome in our facility and shorten the gaps that we have seen in our rock climbing community. Accessibility is extremely important to us, and we furthered our efforts by launching All Rise Outdoors. All Rise is a non-profit organization that advances marginalized groups into our community and help build skill sets along with friendships.
I opened this gym right before the start of the pandemic, excited for this startup to get its name out in the Long Beach community. While opening, my family started to grow, and I’m now raising two children in the heart of Long Beach. Now as a father of two, my passion for creating a space for families has become my focus. Since the get-go, we have offered family packages, allowing children under 12 to climb and enjoy our facility along with their parents. This is very important to us as the costs continue to rise making it very difficult for families to find activities to do AS A FAMILY!
Not only do we want every single person to feel welcomed here, but we seek a family environment where parents can see physical and mental growth in their children through our youth programs & summer camps. We are gearing up for our summer camp starting June 20th! You can expect our incredible summer camp directors to teach fitness-based group games, help develop rock climbing skills, while also having exciting capstone days including water game day, tie-dye day, and so much more.
Climbing is all about pushing past boundaries, personal growth, and overcoming uncomfortable moments. Our climbing club gives kids the tools to process the emotions of failure so they can move forward on the path to success and stability. These ideals push past rock climbing & into their day to day.
