Los Altos Family YMCA

Our Los Altos Family YMCA  facility, built in 1964, started offering summer camp to around 500 students. Fast forward 57 years later, we served over 2,000 campers in 2021! Together, we’ve seen our share of challenges during and since the pandemic, but we strived to continue providing amazing experiences and memories for our leaders of tomorrow. Our Association works with city officials, our local health department, the American Camp Association, and Y-USA experts on protective measures to ensure a safe environment for all.

At our facility, we pride ourselves in offering a welcoming and safe environment, with the overall goal of never turning a family, member, or future participant away due to the inability to pay. Ranging from youth sports to swim lessons, we have campers that also participate in these programs, allowing families the opportunity to stay involved with our Y and truly feel like they are part of our family. We also hold a presence with LBUSD, with onsite afterschool childcare, as well as our lunch recess Playground Partners program.

Program Director, Sammy Brittain, currently oversees the Camp and Childcare programs offered at the facility. He too was a YMCA participant in Y-Camps growing up, which has led to his passion of offering various camps and programs that are engaging and new.  Sammy emphasized  that the youth programs the Los Altos Family YMCA are extremely successful because of the team that makes up the Camp and Childcare department. He states “Our team of staff here is the heart to our programs, embodying a diverse, talented, and influential group of hardworking people. ”

Our YMCA is excited to partner with Long Beach Moms and invites you out to our branch! Summer Sign Up Day around the corner on Saturday, February 12 from 11:00am-2:00pm.Bring along friends and family and enjoy! You can RSVP to our event by clicking HERE.
