Noble Bird: Invention is the mother of all invention
By: Sidney Price, Owner of Noble Bird/Mama Bird
Necessity is The Mother of all invention. The creation of Noble Bird is no different.
I never planned on becoming a restaurant owner. It wasn’t until both of my two young sons developed severe, life-threatening food allergies that I quickly realized how difficult it was to find a restaurant where my children could safely dine. Holidays, birthday parties, and nearly every social situation revolve around food, and my husband and I had nowhere to safely celebrate all of life’s occasions with our sons. So my family and I decided to open a restaurant where full transparency of ingredients and kitchen practices would be celebrated so that guests knew exactly what they were eating and how it was prepared. Real food with quality ingredients, prepared with love. Food that I would feel proud to serve to my children and our guests because what you eat matters.
My husband and I designed every aspect of the restaurant to appeal to the many phases of life. From our chef-driven menu to the design of the building, right down to our service model, we aim to be a place of happiness, comfort, and inclusion for all.
Whether its girls night on the Marina-facing patio with froses, date night by the fireplace watching the sun set, or a table by the kids nook tucked away in the dining room for family night out (complete magnetic walls, age appropriate manipulatives and a unique craft designed by a local Mom & educator), we’ve got something and somewhere for everyone!
We chose counter service ordering so that our guests could really control the speed and duration of their own dining experience. A few hour chill on the patio for book club or to get some work done? No problem! Have an overstimulated toddler and need to make a mad dash home before a breakdown ensues? No problem: your check is already paid and you ready to run!
Our menu is familiar but elevated, at prices that won’t break the bank. Noble Bird has recently expanded our menu offerings, and in addition to pasture-raised rotisserie chicken, we now offer a variety of all natural proteins. Seasonal sides are fresh, veggie-forward, and great for sharing, and an array of unique sandwiches, salads, bowls and daily plate specials round out the menu. Our beer and wine program is hand selected by a certified sommelier and cicerone.
We’ve had the JOY of serving over 100 children their first meal in a restaurant EVER, and we get to cry with at least one Mom a week watching her baby (big or small) enjoy a meal out; something that seems so mundane to most, but for these families, we are slowly restoring their faith in food, one of the world’s greatest connectors and healers. For the 80% of our guests that simply come to dine with us for quality, fresh eats, we’ve had the opportunity to meet thousands of our neighbors and community members, hosted baby showers, rehearsal dinners, birthdays and fundraisers, and been a part of so many of life’s most celebrated events.
What started out as an incredibly isolating and daunting medical diagnosis for us as new parents has turned into one of the most rewarding endeavors of our life.
