Surviving the First Month: What I Wish I Knew
Hey Mama! The first month of motherhood can be a whirlwind of emotions, exhaustion, and endless diaper changes. As a new mom, I wish I had known a few things that could have made those early days a bit easier.
Accept Help
If someone offers to bring you a meal or watch the baby while you shower, say yes. You don’t have to do it all on your own. Accepting help doesn’t make you any less capable as a mom.
Sleep When You Can
The advice to sleep when the baby sleeps might sound cliché, but it’s true. Even a 20-minute nap can do wonders for your energy levels. Don’t worry about keeping the house spotless—your rest is more important.
It’s Okay to Cry
The postpartum period is a rollercoaster of hormones and emotions. If you find yourself crying for no apparent reason, know that it’s normal. Talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling.
Don’t Stress About Perfection
There’s no such thing as a perfect mom. You’re going to make mistakes, and that’s okay. Your baby doesn’t need perfection; they need love, care, and attention, which you’re already providing.
Find Your Rhythm
Every baby is different. It might take a few weeks to figure out what works for you and your baby. Trust your instincts, and don’t compare yourself to others.
The first month is challenging, but it’s also filled with precious moments. Take it one day at a time, and remember—
You’ve got this Mama!
