IVA High is a top California and WASC-accredited public charter high school in Long Beach with a mission to empower students to think well: creatively, critically, and with a capacity for self-growth. 

Born in 2016 and based upon the success of the innovative model at Intellectual Virtues Academy Middle School, IVA High engages high school students with a learner-centered education that emphasizes the traits of a good thinker, learner, and problem solver.  

From dual enrollment with LBCC to honors classes and paid internships at local Long Beach businesses, our highly qualified teaching staff helps students discover their passions and transform learning into action. Students come to IVA High for college prep, STEAM, and exploratory pathways for their future; they stay for smaller, safer learning in a vibrant, caring community. 

IVA High is a small school for big thinkers. Our graduates leave high school equipped with a strong sense of self and critical thinking skills, prepared to attend some of the nation’s top colleges and universities, and boldly pursue their interests. 

As a tuition-free public charter school of choice, we are open to all students in greater Los Angeles and enroll year-round on a first-come, first-served basis.
