We Hear, We See, We Stand

Long Beach Moms, I heard what you heard. I saw what you saw.

Recently, the Long Beach Unified School District’s Superintendent spoke up against violence. Announcements like that don’t happen without reason. They signal that a problem has been identified, one that can’t be ignored.

Now, before panic sets in, let me be clear: Long Beach is still a good place to educate your children. But “good” doesn’t mean “perfect.” Not on every front.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you already know this drumbeat: Moms must stay involved. Ask questions. Peek under the rug. Look around the corners. Don’t assume safety or integrity simply because someone wears a professional title. Our children’s well-being demands more from us: awareness, courage, and follow-through.

Today’s world empowers people to express who they are freely, which is beautiful until freedom turns into unkindness. Until someone’s “choice to be real” becomes another person’s pain. And that’s where we draw the line.

Moms, protect your children from violence.  Moms, protect your peace from worry.

You deserve to feel confident that the spaces you trust with your children’s hearts and minds are safe physically, emotionally, and morally.

Now, I’m not here to take a stance on the political debate about dismantling the Department of Education. But I will say this: decisions like that stem from one truth: many people have lost faith in our education system as it stands.

One contributing factor? Policies that sometimes prioritize protection over accountability, even in cases where innocent students become the victims.

So how do we, as parents and professionals, sustain ourselves in these times?

We pay attention to the news, the gossip, the chatter.

We stay balanced, emotionally grounded, and even when the world feels off-balance.

And we keep perspective, focusing not on panic, but on progress.

My goal, always, is to create solutions, not just conversations.

I don’t let what’s happening outside dictate how I feel inside.

Trust your gut.  Own your decisions without regret.  Challenge the norm and if needed, apologize later.

Moms, I stand with you, deeply concerned for all students, every single one of our babies. They need our voices, our advocacy, and yes, our tough love.

Because every child deserves to feel safe in their educational space. Without safety, learning can’t happen. And without learning, our future dims.

Let’s keep pressing for answers, for accountability, for change.

Together, we rise, and our children rise with us.  Let’s get out in front of this because it looks and sounds like our city’s children need us.   Go Mommas!

Marvel in Motherhood!

Sincerely,

Precious Young
