Expecting? Considering postpartum support? What is a newborn care specialist? A newborn care specialist usually starts with a family on the day they bring baby home from the hospital and stays typically for up to 3-4 months to guide and educate new parents and offer hands-on care to the newborn to help establish feeding, routine, and healthy sleep habits. Hi, I am Ethel Pio, and I am a Newborn Care Specialist/Postpartum Doula and Certified Sleep Consultant. I love helping parents grow in their confidence as they transition into parenthood! My background with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and Business Administration has given me extensive experience with working with families nationwide, internationally and in the Greater Los Angeles area. Providing Newborn care education for expecting parents and new parents, hiring me as your Postpartum Doula/ Newborn care service regardless of whether it is your first, second, or third child will provide you with expert support and guidance can bring you emotional support, physical support as well as much-needed rest and more time to focus on bonding with your newborn. My support can help you and your newborn get the care and attention you deserve while you embark in your parenting journey! Prior to joining the postpartum industry, I taught Pre-K from (2004-2011) at an Elite Private School in my hometown North Hollywood, CA. I continued my education in 2017 by taking certification courses in newborn and postpartum care and began my journey in all things babies!
I offer newborn care classes before your baby arrives by teaching you about newborn care and development, so you can feel more confident in your ability to provide the best possible care for your baby. Understanding topics such as feeding, sleeping, and basic hygiene can help parents create a nurturing and healthy environment for their newborn. In addition, having knowledge about common newborn health issues and when to seek medical attention can help parents feel more prepared and empowered to care for your little one. One of my most popular services is Sleep conditioning, also known as sleep shaping. You can prepare for your upcoming arrival by learning the unique complexities of newborn sleep and be as prepared as you can be to set the building blocks to your baby’s sleep habits. Sleep conditioning is one of most gentle methods that can help you facilitate sleep in the early months of your baby’s life without crying it out. It is a gradual process, and all done with evidence-based practices, that are age-appropriate for newborns all with a holistic approach. Is your baby is here and is about 6 weeks old, and naps and nights seem to be causing you to fret! Not a problem, I can provide you with virtual and in-home consultation and creating an individualized sleep plan for your baby’s specific needs and your family needs. These services are offered virtually and in-person.
A little bit about me. My husband and I are locals to Long Beach, and both are So Cal natives. On my time off I enjoy walking on the beach, checking out all our local neighborhood restaurants and spending quality time with family and friends. I am ready to serve your growing family by bridging the gap between birth and coming home with your baby; how can I help you? Let’s chat!
